Massey University prides itself on its forward-thinking spirit, groundbreaking research, applied nature of programmes and international focus. Massey offers a range of flexible course options and is a leader in online and distance education, with more than half of its students studying part time or externally. In 2014, Massey celebrates 50 years as a university.

Massey has three campuses, all located on New Zealand’s North Island, in Albany, Manawatu and Wellington. The Albany campus, located on Auckland’s North Shore, is situated among the area’s shopping centres, cafés, cinemas, art galleries, libraries and sporting facilities, and is just a 20-minute drive from the Auckland CBD. The Manawatu campus in Palmerston North, Massey’s original home base, features two sites — Turitea, renowned for its lush, park-like environment and beautiful gardens, and Hokowhitu, which is located on the city side of the Manawatu River. Massey Manawatu offers courses in science, education, business, and humanities and social sciences, as well as New Zealand’s only veterinary science degree. The campus also acts as the base for the university’s distance education programmes. The university’s creative campus in Wellington offers study and research programmes in communication, business, health and wellbeing, and creative arts. It is home to the School of Design — New Zealand's oldest, established in 1886 — as well as the New Zealand School of Music, created in collaboration with Victoria University of Wellington.
