The Mumbai University was started in 1857 and also known as University of Bombay. This was included into 1st three universities in India. The name also changed to University of Mumbai from University of Bombay. This is one of the oldest universities in India and also the 1st being the department of Sociology, Civics and Politics prior to the independence. This is located in Maharashtra state. This old university has 354 allied colleges and having 36 numbers of departments. The university also communicates education in numerous professional courses to advantage the students get a firm formation in the long way. 

However, in later years, the university originated to commence research and post-graduate applications. Launching with the academic year 1997-98, the student facilities and particular need-based educational options were offered by the University from the Sub-Centre. The University of Mumbai commenced an Administrative Sub-Centre at Ratnagiri on September 05, 1989. 

Only two submissions on merit of the penurious students from each College are requested for this Structure. The Director, Students Welfare conducts a circular to all the Institutions demanding the submission from the Principal to lead this Structure. 

            

The University of Mumbai is having the Virtual class rooms for student and this was the first university is having this facility. This will be using for workshops and seminars through A-VIEW, delivery and live stream lectures, and etc. This was initiated by the University Grant Commission in India. This facility is included for e-learning category hence university has high demand to the programs.
